Khalid Benghrib geeft een exclusieve workshop geïnspireerd op de tradities van trance in Gnawa-muziek en op de oude, traditionele Soefi tradities en rituelen.
De in Casablanca geboren choreograaf mixt deze stijlen op geheel eigen wijze. Iedereen kan meedoen, ongeacht leeftijd, ervaring, conditie of type lichaam.
Het individu en de gemeenschap
Tijdens de workshop ligt de focus op het spanningsveld tussen individu en gemeenschap, zonder dat er sprake is van leiderschap. Volgens Khalid is het namelijk de hoogste tijd om het gevoel van gemeenschap en de diepere laag ervan te onderzoeken. Hoe zit dat met onze eigen community? De workshop wordt live begeleid door een Gnawa percussionist.

Choreograaf Khalid Benghrib maakte als kind kennis met het hart van het Soefi universum via zijn oma’s en ging dans studeren in La Rochelle. Tegenwoordig woont en werkt hij in Marokko en Frankrijk.
Deze workshop is een kennismaking met zijn voorstelling L’Haal, waarbij zowel dansers als publiek in vervoering raken. L’Haal is de openingsvoorstelling van het festival ‘SPRING in Autumn’ en te zien op 27 oktober bij Stadsschouwburg Utrecht. Als deelnemer van de workshop bezoek je L’Haal voor € 10,-.

Khalid Benghrib gives an exclusive workshop inspired by the traditions of trance in Gnawa music and by the old, traditional Sufi traditions and rituals. The choreographer, born in Casablanca, mixes these styles in his own unique way. Anyone can participate, regardless of age, experience, condition or body type.
During the workshop the focus is on the field of tension between individual and community, without leadership. According to Khalid, it is high time to explore the sense of community and its deeper layer. What about our own community? The workshop is accompanied live by a Gnawa percussionist. Khalid Benghrib was introduced to the heart of the Sufi universe as a child through his grandmothers and went to study dance in La Rochelle. Today he lives and works in Morocco and France. Through this workshop you will catch a glimpse of his performance L’Haal, which enraptures both dancers and audience. L’Haal is the opening performance of the festival SPRING in Autumn and can be seen on Thursday 27 October in the Stadsschouwburg Utrecht.
