Tomillo Collective – A Journey Through Emotions

Tomillo Collective is een septet uit Utrecht dat op een unieke manier wereldmuziek en jazz samenbrengt. De band bestaat uit een jazzkwartet en een strijktrio, wat zorgt voor een unieke mix van moderne en klassieke muziek en exotische texturen. Hun optredens zijn een multiculturele viering waarbij ze ook een emotionele diepgang opzoeken.

Tomillo Collective verwerkt elementen van verschillende stijlen, zoals flamenco, afrobeat, arabesque en soul, in hun composities. Ze laten zich hierbij beïnvloeden door een breed scala aan componisten, van J.S. Bach tot Frank Zappa en Ibrahim Maalouf.

In 2025 toerde de band twee keer door Spanje en trad op tijdens verschillende jazzfestivals, zoals het Festival Internacional de Palencia en het Festival de Jazz de Lugo. Deze tournees waren een belangrijke stap in de vestiging van Tomillo Collective op het internationale jazz- en wereldmuziekpodium.

Hun debuutalbum, One Life, werd uitgebracht in maart 2025 en weerspiegelt de eclectische muzikale identiteit van de band. Momenteel werken ze aan hun tweede album, dat in 2026 zal worden opgenomen.

Tomillo Collective is a Utrecht-based septet that brings together world music and jazz in a unique way. The band is formed by a jazz quartet,and a string trio, which allows the creation of exotic textures and a blend between the classical and the modern approach to music, Their show is a celebration of multiculturalism and conveys a great emotional depth.

Tomillo Collective incorporates elements of various styles such as flamenco, afrobeat, arabesque or soul into their compositions, with influences that cover a wide range of composers, from J.S.Bach to Frank Zappa or Ibrahim Maalouf.

In 2025, the band toured Spain twice, performing at several jazz festivals such as Festival Internacional de Palencia and Festival de Jazz de Lugo. These tours marked an important step in establishing Tomillo Collective on the international jazz and world music scene.

Their debut album, One Life, was released in March 2025 and reflects the band’s eclectic musical identity. They are currently working on their second album, to be recorded in 2026.
